01Agreement
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and [COMPANY LEGAL NAME] ("Landrun", "we", "us") governing your use of the Landrun iOS application and website (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
02Eligibility
You must be at least [13/16 — match your Privacy Policy] years old to use Landrun. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf. You may not use the Service if you have previously been banned for violating these Terms.
03Your account
- Provide accurate information and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.
- One account per person. Accounts may not be sold, transferred, or shared.
- Usernames and team names must not impersonate others, infringe rights, or be offensive. We may reclaim or rename accounts that violate this.
- Notify us immediately at [SUPPORT EMAIL] if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
04Safety first
Landrun is played on real streets. The territory is a game — traffic is not. You are solely responsible for your safety and your surroundings while running.
By using the Service you agree that you will:
- Obey all traffic laws and signals, and stay aware of vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians at all times;
- Not interact with your phone screen while moving through traffic or crossings;
- Run only in places you are legally allowed to be — never enter private property, restricted areas, railways, or highways to claim, defend, or reach territory;
- Use good judgment about running conditions, including weather, darkness, and unfamiliar areas;
- Consult a physician before starting any exercise program if you have a medical condition.
Exercise carries inherent risks. You acknowledge that you participate voluntarily and assume all risks arising from running and from your choice of routes. Nothing in the game — a challenge, a season deadline, a rival's claim — ever requires you to run anywhere unsafe or unlawful, and we do not encourage or reward doing so.
05Rules of the game
Fair play keeps the map worth fighting for. You agree not to:
- Fake runs: spoof, simulate, or manipulate GPS data; record runs in vehicles or on bikes, scooters, or other transport; or use bots, emulators, or modified clients;
- Exploit: abuse bugs to claim territory, inflate stats, or gain advantages (report bugs instead — we're grateful);
- Harass: target, stalk, threaten, or harass other players in any feature, or use gameplay to intimidate someone in the real world (such as deliberately circling another person's home);
- Interfere: probe, disrupt, reverse-engineer, or overload the Service, scrape data, or access it by any means other than our official app;
- Misuse commerce: buy, sell, or trade accounts, territory, or in-game standing for real money outside the App Store.
We use automated and manual anti-cheat systems, including plausibility checks on speed and movement. Runs flagged as non-genuine may be voided and their claims reversed.
06Territory & game items
Territory, achievements, streaks, leaderboard positions, and all other in-game items are game elements with no real-world value. They are not property, currency, or anything ownable; claiming virtual territory over a real place grants no rights whatsoever in that place. We may modify, rebalance, reset (including season resets), or remove game elements as part of operating the game. Losing territory to another player is a core mechanic, not a defect.
07Premium subscriptions
- Billing: Premium is an auto-renewing subscription billed through your Apple ID. Pricing is shown in the app before purchase and may vary by region.
- Free trial: new subscribers receive a 14-day free trial. Apple charges the subscription price when the trial ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before.
- Renewal & cancellation: subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; deleting the app or your account does not cancel a subscription.
- Refunds: handled by Apple under App Store terms — request at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Changes: we may change Premium pricing or features prospectively; price changes apply only after notice and, where required, your consent via the App Store.
08Your content
You retain ownership of content you submit — profile photos, team names and emblems, comments, and your recorded routes. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and reproduce that content as needed to operate the Service — for example, rendering your territory on the shared map or showing your profile to other players. This license ends when the content is deleted, except in de-identified or aggregated form.
You are responsible for what you post. We may remove content that violates these Terms or the law.
09Our intellectual property
The Service — including the app, design, logos, game mechanics, and all software — belongs to [COMPANY LEGAL NAME] or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service except as allowed by law.
Map data is provided by third-party providers and subject to their terms.
10Enforcement & termination
We may warn you, void runs, reverse territory claims, suspend features, or terminate your account if you violate these Terms — with severity matched to the violation. For serious violations (cheating that affects other players, harassment, threats to safety), we may act without prior warning.
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time (Settings → Account → Delete Account). We may discontinue the Service or any feature with reasonable notice; if we discontinue the Service entirely, active Premium periods will be handled in accordance with App Store policies.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including 6, 8, 9, 11–14) survive.
11Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that GPS tracking will be accurate or uninterrupted, that territory calculations will be error-free, that the Service will be available at all times, or that fitness metrics (including calorie estimates) are accurate — they are estimates, not medical measurements.
12Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, [COMPANY LEGAL NAME] will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service — including injuries sustained while running, interactions with other players, or loss of in-game progress or territory.
Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or [USD 100].
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including for gross negligence or willful misconduct where applicable.
13Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless [COMPANY LEGAL NAME] and its officers, employees, and agents from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your violation of these Terms, your content, or your unlawful conduct while using the Service — including entering property you had no right to enter.
14Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION, e.g. the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein], without regard to conflict-of-law rules. 15Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms as the game evolves. For material changes we will notify you in the app or by email at least [14/30] days before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept them; if you don't agree, stop using the Service and delete your account.
