Tracking & GPS

My route looks jagged or cuts corners — why?

GPS accuracy depends on your surroundings. Tall buildings, dense tree cover, and tunnels can bounce or block the signal, which shows up as jagged lines or clipped corners.

For the cleanest routes: keep your phone in an armband or hand rather than a deep pocket, wait for the GPS-lock indicator to turn solid before starting, and avoid starting a run indoors. Your claimed territory uses the recorded line, so a cleaner signal means a fairer border.

The app didn't record part of my run

The usual causes are iOS killing the app in the background or a location-permission change mid-run. Check the following:

  1. iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Landrun → set to "While Using" with Precise Location on.
  2. iOS Settings → General → Background App Refresh → make sure it's enabled for Landrun.
  3. Disable Low Power Mode for important runs — iOS throttles GPS polling to save battery.

If a run was cut short and cost you a claim, email support with the run date and we'll take a look.

How much battery does tracking use?

Expect roughly the same drain as any GPS run tracker — continuous location is the main cost. Landrun only records GPS during an active run and never tracks in the background, so it has no impact on battery when you're not running.

Territory & claims

How do I claim territory?

Run a loop. When your route returns to (or crosses) its own starting line, the loop closes and everything inside it becomes your territory. The border of your claim is exactly the line you ran — no grids, no snapping.

An open, out-and-back route doesn't enclose any area, so it logs your distance and stats but claims nothing. Close the loop to claim.

Someone took my territory — how do I get it back?

That's the game! When a rival's route cuts through your territory, the border is redrawn along their line. To take it back, run a loop that encloses the ground you want — your new route becomes the new border.

Territory isn't lost by inactivity alone; it only changes hands when someone actually runs through it.

Why didn't my loop claim the area I expected?

Two common reasons: the loop didn't fully close (check whether the route's start and end actually meet on the map), or the route crossed itself, which splits it into multiple smaller loops — each closed section is claimed separately.

If the map shows something that doesn't match your run, email support with the run date and a screenshot.

Can I hide where I run?

Claimed territory is visible on the shared map — that's the core of the game. But you can protect sensitive locations: set a privacy zone around your home or workplace in Settings → Privacy, and route lines inside it are hidden from other players. We also recommend starting and ending runs a short distance from your front door.

See our Privacy Policy for full details on what's visible to other players.

Teams & seasons

How do teams work?

Join a team or found your own. Team territory is the combined ground of every member, and the team leaderboard ranks crews by total area held. Captains can set targets and pin recommended routes for the crew.

What happens when a season ends?

Final standings are recorded, season achievements are awarded, and the map resets to unclaimed. Your lifetime stats, run history, and streaks carry over — only territory resets. New season, clean map.

Premium & billing

How do I cancel my Premium subscription?

Subscriptions are handled by Apple, so cancel through your Apple ID: iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Landrun Premium → Cancel. You keep Premium features until the end of the paid period.

Note: deleting the app or your Landrun account does not cancel the subscription — it must be cancelled in Apple's Subscriptions settings.

How do refunds work?

Because payment goes through the App Store, refunds are decided by Apple, not us. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com — sign in, find the Landrun charge, and choose "Request a refund". Apple typically responds within 48 hours.

What's the free trial and when am I charged?

Premium comes with a 14-day free trial. Apple charges the subscription price when the trial ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before. You can check your renewal date anytime in iOS Settings → Subscriptions.

Account

How do I delete my account?

In the app: Settings → Account → Delete Account. If you no longer have the app installed, email privacy@landrun.app from your registered address with the subject "Delete my account".

Deletion removes your profile, routes, territory, and stats within 30 days. Remember to cancel any active Premium subscription separately through Apple — see the billing section above.

I forgot my password

Tap "Forgot password" on the sign-in screen and we'll email you a reset link. If the email doesn't arrive within a few minutes, check spam — and make sure you're using the address you registered with. Still stuck? Email support.

How do I report another player?

For suspected GPS spoofing or impossible runs, email fairplay@landrun.app with the player's username and, if possible, a link or screenshot of the suspicious run. For harassment in kudos or team chat, use the report button on their profile or email the same address. We review every report.
